What is Meta-Mod?
The Meta-Moderation system allows you to give feedback to the moderators by rating their moderations. Once you are level 20 or higher, the link is available from the very bottom of your board list. Be warned, however, that you will likely see some very offensive content and spoilers for the latest movies and games.
I was moderated unfairly! How can I have this moderation no longer count against me?
If you were moderated incorrectly, you may use the moderation contest system to send a comment to the original moderator, challenging his or her decision. Moderations can be contested on the grounds that they are not violations or that they were violations, but the punishment was too severe (e.g., a warning for something that would usually be modded without karma loss on a clean history). You can also choose to accept a moderation if, in fact, it was fair.
Once a moderation is accepted or contested, it will be placed into the moderator's contest queue. If the moderation has been contested, the moderator will then choose to either overturn the moderation, reversing the moderation, restoring your message to the boards and any lost karma, or uphold it, having the moderation stand as initially given. Moderators can also choose to relax moderations (to a 3 karma loss or no karma loss, depending on the punishment) if they feel that they handled it far too harshly.
Receiving a reply to a contest is not guaranteed; replying to contested moderations is completely at the moderator's discretion.
If you contest a karma loss moderation and it is upheld by the original moderator, you can choose to further challenge this decision by appealing. When a moderation is appealed, it is placed in a special queue that only elite (level 55) moderators and administrators can access. From there, they can take every action on the moderation that the original moderator can. Once a moderation is upheld at the appeal level, you cannot appeal it any further. Additionally, you lose your moderation contest rights until the moderation purges from your history.
Be forewarned that abuse of the contest system can result in a generated message being produced from your contest or even the forwarding of your moderation. When a moderation is forwarded for contest abuse, an elite moderator or administrator can choose to declare it as contest abuse, barring you from contesting any further moderations until the reviewed moderation purges, or forward it back to the original moderator if they feel that it is not contest abuse.
What is the Search function and how does it work?
Once you are level 21 or higher, a search link will become available from any topic or message list. From there, you can search the topic titles or messages on the current message board or any of your favorites. The search is a simple string search, and is best limited to single words or short phrases.
How do I use private messaging?
To view all of your received private messages, go to your user information page and click on "Private Messages". You can send private messages by going to a user's whois page and clicking on "Send Private Message to (user's name here)". To send private messages or to delete any private messages you have received, you must purchase
the Private Messaging Gold Upgrade item from the Seeds Shop.
How can I change the boards on my main board list?
The Board Manager allows you to browse all of the various social and special interest boards on the site and add or remove them from your own personalized list. It is available for all active users from at the bottom of the Message Board Home Page, or from your User Preferences page.
How can I add new boards to my main board list?
Simply click on the "Add to Favorites" link from any topic listing. The board will be added to the list on the Message Board Home Page.
What is the feedback system for?
The feedback system allows users to share their opinions on the YA RLY Lite message boards. The feedback system is also the system used for submitting material to the site, such as polls and glitch reports. To access the feedback system, simply follow the appropriate link at the bottom of the board index. You can also view certain submissions, such as polls, from other users by clicking on a user's whois page and then clicking on "Submissions Page". If the user has no posted submissions, they will not have a Submissions Page link in their profile.
How can I see my own posted messages?
Once you are Level 20, you can see your a list of topics you have posted in by clicking the "View My Posted Messages" link from your User Preferences page. |
